Tilt and Turn Timber Window System

Inward-opening windows use a tilt and turn mechanism that allows the sash to either tilt inward from the top for ventilation or swing fully inward on side hinges for cleaning and maximum airflow. A single handle controls both modes.

This system is the European standard for residential and commercial buildings. The sash seals against the frame on all four sides when closed, providing excellent thermal and acoustic performance: Uw 0.78 W/m²K thermal insulation, 36 dB sound reduction, and EI-class 45-minute fire resistance (certified 45 minutes, configurable up to approximately 60 minutes).

Available in two profile systems: ECO 68 (68mm, Uw 1.0-1.3, ideal for budget-conscious projects) and ECO 92 (92mm, Uw 0.78 with triple glazing, our standard choice). ECO 92 also accommodates quadruple glazing. All profiles use engineered laminated timber. The four-layered profile construction, combined with waterborne, eco-friendly varnishes and deep wood impregnation applied in a separate manufacturing process, ensures long-term dimensional stability and durability

14 Opening Configurations

Configurations C-1 through C-14 cover tilt and turn, casement, awning, bottom-hung, fixed, and sliding variations. This allows any combination of opening and fixed panels in a single frame.

Child Safety Option

Lockable handle mechanism prevents children from opening the window beyond the tilt position. The handle requires a key to switch from tilt to full turn mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between tilt and turn?

The handle has two positions. Turn it 90 degrees and the window tilts inward from the top for secure ventilation. Turn it 180 degrees and the sash swings fully inward on side hinges for cleaning and maximum airflow. One handle controls both modes.

Which profile should I choose: ECO 68 or ECO 92?

ECO 68 (68mm) is our budget option with Uw 1.0-1.3 and double or triple glazing. ECO 92 (92mm) is our standard with Uw 0.78 and triple glazing. For premium options, see our window profiles page or quadruple glazed windows.

Can I upgrade to quadruple glazing?

Yes. ECO 92 profile supports quadruple glazing (4 glass panes with Low-E coatings and Argon fill). This brings the U-value down to Uw 0.67 on the 92mm profile.

What hardware options are available?

We use GU (Gretsch-Unitas) hardware from Germany. Five handle models are available: DIRIGENT (standard), ADAGIO, MODENA, SAN REMO, and SOPRANO. Six finish colours: Silver, Champagne, Gold, White, Bronze, and Brown. Child safety locks are also available.

Are your tilt and turn windows fire-rated?

Yes. Our windows hold EI-30, EI-45 and EI-60 fire resistance certification by TUV EESTI under EN 16034. See our fire-rated wooden windows page. Custom orders up to EI-90 available for specialised projects.

What certifications do your windows hold?

CE, ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental), Secured by Design (UK Police Preferred Specification), Inspecta (Finland), TUV Eesti, GQS, and EU A-Class energy rating.
